ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PERSONNEL INVOLVED IN ECOLOGICAL MANAGEMENT 5-2
• survey (if necessary) and map the locations of noteworthy species and keep a photographic
record;
• develop and undertake monitoring programs, and, if appropriate, research projects which provide
a sound basis for development management practices;
• continue ecological enhancement measures to further the works undertaken as part of the ERP;
• if necessary, conduct fauna surveys in the wet and dry seasons;
• prepare and implement a feral animal control program which targets particular introduced
species.
5.3 Weed Management
The following should be undertaken:
• develop a short term weed action plan with a strategy of containment with eradication of isolated
outbreaks;
• develop a long term weed action plan which includes:
identifying, mapping and recommending control priorities and assessing control methods
(refer weed management sections of other EMPs and ERP);
weeding activities which promote natural regeneration, prevent reinfestation and take into
consideration potential environmental impacts such as proximity to Weyba Creek / Noosa
Inlet;
identifying and controlling any new weed species and / or outbreaks;
if appropriate, liaise with local landholders and involve volunteers and local community
groups in weed control; and
developing and implementing a program for the collation and propagation of indigenous
seed for use in rehabilitation projects on the land and by local landholders.
5.4 Fire Management
The following will need to be undertaken:
• develop a fire management plan as part of the CMP, including action and response directives.
This plan is to be compatible with the Fire Management Plan prepared for the Settlers Cove
development;
• confirm risk areas (including potential areas of threat to adjacent properties in the RSL and RHD
areas);
• liaise with the QFRS and landholders regarding co-ordinated fire management strategies; and
• as required, develop and implement a program of fuel load control , primarily through hand
removal.
