9.4.10 Waste Management Code

9.4.10.1          Application

   (3) This code applies to assessable development identified as requiring assessment against the Waste Management Code by the
       tables of assessment in Part 5 (Tables of assessment).
   (4) All provisions in this code are assessment benchmarks for applicable assessable development.

9.4.10.2          Purpose and Overall Outcomes

   (1)   The purpose of the Waste management code is to ensure development provides for the sustainable management of waste in a
         manner which is environmentally acceptable, safe and efficient.
   (2)   The overall outcomes sought for the Waste management code are:
         (a)   Development provides opportunities to minimise waste generation and increase re-use and recycling.
         (b)   The storage, disposal and management of solid, liquid and vegetative waste is conducted in a safe and ecologically
               sustainable manner without environmental nuisance.
         (c)   The on-site storage of waste does not create environmental nuisance or adverse visual impact to adjoining properties during
               the construction or operational phase of development.
         (d)   Council and other licensed trade waste services are able to conveniently collect and dispose of waste generated by the
               development.
         (e)   The removal of waste generated by the demolition or removal of a building is undertaken safely and without impacts on
               infrastructure or the local environment and the site is left in a clean and usable condition.
