1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1       BACKGROUND

Located 12 km south of Noosa Heads and just north of Coolum, Peregian Beach is a community-
oriented slice of beach, ideal for those who want a more tranquil lifestyle or stay at the Sunshine
Coast. Peregian Beach is situated east of Lake Weyba National Park and north of the Peregian
Environmental Park. Scanlon Group is proposing a development in Peregian Beach for both short-
term and permanent residential accommodation.

The subject site is described as Lot 77 on SP231615 on David Low Way, Peregian Beach. The
Applicant has sought approval to be assessed by Noosa Shire Council. Included in the proposed
development is a 20-unit motel development, 12 accommodation units, and the remainder of
the development to comprise permanent residential. Urban Economics has been commissioned
by Scanlon Group to undertake a Needs Analysis for the Essence of Peregian Beach development,
exploring the need for short-term accommodation in Peregian Beach relative to permanent
residential forms, and the implications for the subject development.

          accommodation facilities;
         Reviewed plans for the proposed development;
       Identified the mix of short-term accommodation facilities available in Peregian Beach and
          surrounding communities;

                                                                                           1 | Page
