Community Need
The subject site presents a strategic opportunity to improve the access to short-term
accommodation facilities for businesses and visitors to and through the eastern beaches
of Noosa. Proximate to an established and evolving neighbourhood centre and the
natural attraction of Peregian Beach, the subject site offers improved levels of
convenience and accessibility for numerous visitor types, including short-break visitors.
The proposed motel accommodation would improve choice in operator, accommodation
style and location for those seeking short-term accommodation in Noosa Shire.
The proposed short term accommodation facilities would cater for a limited sector of the
overnight visitor market.
The proposed permanent residential component of the development will increase access
to choice in living and lifestyles for residents seeking a Peregian Beach living environment
with access to the Peregian Beach Village precinct.
The residential component also presents the opportunity for downsizing households to
enjoy the convenience of the Peregian lifestyle, whilst remaining within the Noosa and
Peregian Beach locality.
The proposed residential component will introduce 26 permanent residential dwellings
offering a modern, conveniently located opportunity for those households seeking a
Peregian Beach lifestyle. There is limited choice in new residential development in
Peregian Beach.
The proposed development will introduce much needed new stock to Peregian Beach in
seeking to address in part decreasing relative affordability and availability of residential
choice in Peregian Beach.
The proposed development will contribute to the diversity of housing choice in Peregian
Beach including 3 and 4 bedroom homes for residents.
Planning Need
There is a clear gap in the provision of modern accommodation including hotel/motel
type facilities within the Noosa Shire. The subject site is conveniently and strategically
located to cater for visitors, businesses, workers and residents within Peregian Beach and
would contribute to the economic vitality of the locality.
