                 The first flush device and the tank screen should be checked and maintained regularly to ensure
                 that the water entering the tank is appropriately pretreated.

                 3.1.2.2 Maintenance Program
                 Maintenance of the rainwater tank and associated components would involve the following
                 activities:

                      •    Regular Maintenance
                              o Clean out and checking of first flush device;
                              o Clean out of rainwater tank screen;
                      •    Routine Maintenance
                              o Clean out leaf filters/strainers
                              o Check tank openings – access covers closed, no holes or gaps in inlet, overflow and
                                  other openings
                              o Internal inspection – check for evidence of access by animals, birds or insects. If
                                  present identify and close access points
                              o Water quality – check for odour, colour and sediment
                              o Pumps – check the condition of the pumps and replace filters as required
                      •    Sediment and structure check
                              o Check structural integrity of tank, including roof and all pipework connections
                              o Check inside of tank for accumulated sediment (remove any and all sediment via
                                  vacuum suction or siphon

                 Table 1 below sets out the recommended frequency for inspections and maintenance of rainwater
                 tanks (including tank screens and first flush devices) during the Operational Phase. Note the
                 Schedule is a guideline only. Routine clean out and maintenance should be scheduled based on the
                 outcome of routine inspections.
