RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Director Planning & Infrastructure and Local Disaster
Coordinator, and Disaster Management & Special Projects Officer to the Services & Organisation
Committee Meeting dated 11 October 2016 and:
A.                       Thank the members of, and advisors to, the Noosa Local Disaster Management Group for
                         their participation; and
B.                       Note the improvement in the Local Disaster Management Plan assessment against the
                         Inspector-General Emergency Management’s Emergency Management Assurance
                         Framework.



REPORT
This report provides an update on Disaster Management in the Noosa Shire since the Annual
Disaster Management Report 2015 was considered by the Infrastructure & Services Committee on
8 December 2015.

1.                       Changes to the Noosa Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG)

Following the local government election in March, Cr Tony Wellington was appointed Chair of the
Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG). Cr Joe Jurisevic was appointed Deputy Chair of the
LDMG and Chair of the Local Recovery Group.

Martin Drydale remains Local Disaster Coordinator (LDC) and Alan (Fox) Rogers remains Deputy
LDC and Local Recovery Coordinator.

Council adopted a revised list of LDMG members and advisors at its Ordinary Meeting of 15
September 2016.

2.                       LDMG Meetings

The LDMG met for ordinary meetings on 25 February, 15 June and 15 September 2016 and will
have its final meeting for this year on 24 November 2016.
