4.2 Field QA/QC
Field Triplicate Splits
Analyses of field triplicate splits were assessed at site BH5 from one horizon (0.5-1.0m) (BH5 0.5-1.0
and BH5Q2 to the primary laboratory and BH5Q3 to the secondary laboratory). Most parameters were
within the ±50 % NAGD criterion for RSD (i.e. less than 50% RSD – Table 4-1), except for total
phosphorus. The exceedance of the NAGD criterion for this parameter was not considered problematic
given that it occurred at low concentrations and there are no screening levels available for nutrients in
NAGD.
Field Triplicates
The assessment of field triplicate samples collected at two horizons (0-0.5m, 0.5m – 1 ) at BH6 and are
presented in Table 4.2. The relative standard deviation (RSD) for all samples was acceptable, as they
were below the 50% NAGD criteria, expect for Chromium at BH6 (0-0.5m). The exceedance of the
NAGD criterion for this parameter was not considered problematic given that it occurred at low
concentrations. These minimal differences between the field triplicates indicates limited variability at the
site.
4.3 Summary of Data Validation
Results from the present study indicated that the survey was undertaken to a high standard providing
scientific confidence that the presented results are valid to allow an assessment of sediment quality
against the NAGD/NEPM guidelines.
