PLANNING AND ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 22 JULY 2014
As can be seen and as expected, the primary focus of the Operational Plan projects in this
period has been in the establishment of the new Council and finalising de-amalgamation
issues. As a result of that workload, not all proposed Operational Plan projects from the first
6 months have been completed.
Some of the key Operational Plan projects to carryover to 2014/15 include:
Long term Capital Works Program establishment
Review of the overall general rate structure
Major upgrade to website
Audit Committee and establishment of internal audit function
Finalisation of the Noosa Biosphere Reserve implementation
Development of KPIs (performance measures)
Transport Planning review
Development of new Economic Development strategy
It is difficult in a short report such as this to do justice to the first 6 months of our Council’s
operations. Suffice to say that the primary focus of our Operational Plan projects has been
on establishing the new organisation. That is largely complete, which is a testament to the
hard work and dedication of our staff. The carryover projects and 2014/15 Operational Plan
will be focused on normal local government type activities that enable our Council to deliver
its vision – “Engagement with our community to protect and enhance our lifestyle”.
Looking Ahead
The CEO has also been developing a more meaningful reporting format which will provide
Council with more details about how the Council is progressing. This is intended to cover a
range of KPI areas focusing on our customer service, financial performance, systems and
staff issues. This should be in place for the first quarter report for 2014/15.
