3.2 Left-In / Left-Out Access Provision In accordance with the current MCU application approval over the site issued by Noosa Council, the development restricts turns at the site access to a left-in / left-out arrangement. As per the approval conditions, the existing refuge island at the pedestrian crossing is to be extended 5m north of the driveway. The 5m is to extend from the edge of the driveway, as demonstrated in TTM’s drawing 20BRT0747-03D and 04B. Note that this is a concept functional layout to demonstrates right turns will be restricted. The line marking for the southbound lane, from the pedestrian crossing to the bus stop, is to be reconfigured to be consistent with the existing arrangement on the northbound lane. It is noted that the minimum bicycle lane width at the pedestrian crossing is 1.2m. The southbound lane configuration includes a 3.3m through lane and 1.5m bicycle lane, which is the desirable width outlined in Section 5.1 (table 5.5) of Part 6A of the Austroads Guide to Road Design – Paths for Walking and Cycling. It is noted that a bicycle path ranges from a minimum 1.2m-2m. A swept path analysis of the WCV and a B85 access movements are demonstrated in TTM drawings 20BRT0747-01D and 20BRT0747-02D. These drawings show that the crossover design suitably accommodates the WCV and B85 vehicles with the proposed functional design layout of the median.
