3.3 Context
The site is located in Cooroibah, a suburb within Noosa local government area (LGA). Cooroibah, situated north-west of Tewantin,
consists of a small village, rural residential properties, open space, and natural bushland. The suburb can be considered as a
transitional area between coastal urban areas (to the east) and rural countryside (to the west).
The site is generally surrounded by rural residential land, containing detached dwelling houses which is reflective of the rural
lifestyle within Cooroibah. Immediately south is ‘Our Backyard,’ a facility owned and operated by Sunshine Butterflies. The
existing facility provides the space for Sunshine Butterflies to deliver a range of programs, activities, and support services to those
with disabilities. Land uses within the greater area consist of environmental management and conservation, and rural land.
