1.7 VEGETATION
A site assessment was undertaken on 27 October 2022. One dominant vegetation unit was recorded
within the 150m assessment area surrounding the proposed development area. The narrow band of
vegetation flanking Six Mile Creek is characterised by tall Eucalyptus grandis (flooded gum) over
Waterhousea floribunda (weeping satinay). The canopy has attained a height of over 30m. Other species
observed include Corymbia intermedia (pink bloodwood), E. tereticornis (Queensland blue gum) and the
exotic weed species Cinnamomum camphora (camphor laurel). The vegetation community is analogous
with Vegetation Hazard Class 8.1 (VHC 8.1) which is described as Wet Eucalypt tall open forest (QFES,
2019). Plate 7 depicts typical conditions within the narrow band of vegetation flanking Six Mile Creek.
