considered to be safe in their present form.
The top of the top handrail is approximately 860 mm above the top of the decking to the

tread down from the top of the flight is due to be replaced. The second tread up from the
bottom of the flight is exhibiting the effects of fungal decay.
The space between the treads is approximately 135 mm + and as such should be modified by
including an additional piece of timber or metal under the nosing area of the treads so that
the widest space between the treads will not allow a sphere of 125mm to pass through.
The steel stringers are due to be cleaned down and a suitable protective coating system
applied. This will require the treads to be removed temporarily to allow the proper cleaning
and painting of the steel stringers.
The fixings to the head of the steel stringers, should be drawn and the integrity of same
verified.

landing and will require upgrading to ensure that they are a minimum of 1000 mm above the
decking and so that a sphere of 125 cannot pass through the widest space to the various
areas of the handrails.
