PLANNING & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 8 DECEMBER 2015
‘The Noosa Plan was first gazetted in February 2006. State legislation requires Council to
undertake a comprehensive review of the planning scheme every 10 years. This would make
a review due no later than 2016… it is not recommended that Council attempt to prepare a
new planning scheme within this term of Council due to the resources required, time
involved and upcoming state legislative reforms. Rather it is recommended a review of the
scheme be completed in the second half of 2015 with a view to commence preparing a new
scheme in 2016. In the meantime, it is proposed to amend the current scheme to deal with
pressing issues until a comprehensive review is commenced.’
Ordinary Meeting, 6 March 2014 Item 3, Pg 7
That Council note the report by Project Leader, Strategic Planning, Planning & Development
to the Planning & Organisation Committee dated 25 February 2014 and:
A. Resolve not to proceed with the previous Sunshine Coast Regional Council Draft
Planning Scheme process which applied to the Noosa Shire area;
B. Resolve to commence the process of making planning scheme amendments to the
Noosa Plan;
C. Authorise the Chief Executive Officer to advise the Minister of Council’s proposal to
commence the process of making planning scheme amendments; and
D. Respond to persons who made Noosa-relevant submissions to the draft Sunshine
Coast Planning Scheme in 2012 to advise them of Council’s intention regarding a
planning scheme review.
Following the first State Interest Review and Public Consultation process, Council resolved
to proceed with amendments to the Noosa Plan at the Ordinary Meeting of 19 November
2015. Subject to a timely second State Interest Review, these are likely to commence in the
first quarter of 2016.
