Finance & Risk
Should Council accept the report recommendations, costs associated with application fees,
surveys and the preparation of survey plans for the campground and Quarry Reserve
changes are likely to be in the vicinity of $30,000 to $50,000. The original budget did not
factor in these emergent costs and funds will be required in the next budget review. The
budget review process will be used to identify funding for the costs where practicable.
The State approach is that where land is being acquired by other parties that it is on a
commercial basis. In this instance they have indicated they are prepared to look at the land
dealings as a total package (rather than site by site basis). It is not possible to advise on the
costs involved in acquiring land for inclusion in the Recreation & Camping Reserve as this
will be discounted by the value of any land that will transfer to National Park and depends on
outcome of negotiations.
