11 August 2023 The Assessment Manager Noosa Council PO Box 141 Tewantin QLD 4565 Via email: [email protected] To the Assessment Manager Re: Letter of support for the Calile Hotel Noosa Development Material Change of Use Application number : 132008.176.05 Details: 08/0176 - 3 & 7 Serenity Close Noosa Heads - Other Change to include Resort Complex & Shop - Calile Malouf Investments Pty Ltd as Trustee - Project Urban Full address of property : 3 Serenity Close, Noosa Heads Qld 4567 Full details of applicant : Calile Malouf Investments Pty Ltd Consultant : Project Urban On behalf of Tourism Noosa, this letter of support serves as our submission with regard to the above proposed development material change of use application to Noosa Council for the Calile Noosa resort hotel development plan. When complete this project will provide a significant development for Noosa and will be a welcome addition to Noosa’s product offering, providing a luxury boutique property that will assist in maintaining Noosa’s awareness as a desirable destination for Australian and international visitors. The development will provide an uplift in professional standards and customer service to compete at a global level. This development is especially important as the region looks to rebuild the international markets that are vital to the region as they spend more and stay longer when in region. The Calile Hotel provides an extremely well-established boutique brand with its property in Brisbane, which is a key source market for international visitors and will form a strong reason to attract international (and interstate) visitors to the region, boosting the Noosa economy. With a focus on enhancing the natural environment, the project will provide a luxury boutique hotel experience that is aligned with Noosa Council, Tourism Noosa and its community for development that has commitment and ethos to sustainability and maintaining the environment around us. The development will attract high value travellers that are consciously aware of their environmental impact, whilst injecting more dollars into the local economy – this aligns with Tourism Noosa’s strategy for driving high-yielding tourism to our region.

The importance of having new and enhanced product, particularly accommodation in our region is recognised and welcomed by us. There has not been a new 5 star hotel developed in the region in over 3 decades, and the demand for a high quality hotel product to attract high yielding visitors is critical. The development will also appeal to the corporate traveller, another high-yielding market that typically visits mid-week. Tourism Noosa is excited by the opportunities that this project offers, providing a boutique hotel experience that is genuinely needed in our product offering. In addition to providing new product development, through the construction phase and beyond, this significant project will generate employment and ongoing economic activity for the Noosa business and tourism community. Tourism Noosa has personally met with the developers and has seen the vision for this property, and was genuinely pleased to see their passion to provide a tourism offering that engages with the community through meeting expectations in a regenerative manner. The development does not encroach into key environment or conservation zones, and the built form of the building importantly encompasses key Noosa design elements: including the utilisation of natural light and ventilation, separation of buildings to create less bulk and mass, the variation of construction materials and the inclusion of lightweight awning and articulated roof form. The development aligns with the Noosa Plan provisions, strategic aims and outcomes for a Resort use on site within the tourist accommodation zone. Tourism Noosa is pleased to support Calile Malouf Investments Pty Ltd in their application and wish them every success. Yours sincerely, Susan Ewington Acting CEO Tourism Noosa [email protected]
