Dear Trent
| refer to your advice of 7 Nov, 2022 regarding the request from the Queensland Government (DES) of 11 July 2022 to the Noosa Shire Council to relinquish the Trusteeship of Lot 7 on MCH4562 on the Noosa North Shore.
As leaseholders and active stakeholders with s history of over 20 years st the site we believe we have s good working relationship with Council, but are disappointed that it seems the Council has had the request from DES for 5 months and now request s response from our club
on 2 significant matter within a short time frame-
In formulsting a response to the DES request we ask the Council give considerstion to our views 9s follows, which we believe can only result in Council declining that request snd maintaining Council a5 trustee of the site.
The NMF hes used and maintained the North Shore airstrip facilities for model sircraft activities for over 20 years without any complaints.
We have 2 minimal footprint on the site and our operstion is low impact.
The location and facility is unique and we believe that retention of the site is of benefit to the community as 8 recreations! aviation and model flying site. The location is not likely to be affected by building encroachment like sites such ss Coolum have experienced.
The imminent closure of the Phoenix club and Coolum Flyers facilities (Sunshine Coast) demonstrates a reducing number of facilities in the region due to changing private land ownership and sites being encroached by buildings,
There are no altemative sites for us to continue our sport within the shire or within a reasonable distance
As you know recent studies undertaken by Sunshine Coast shires did not identify appropriate alternate sites to conduct our sport.
CASA has endorsed a fying ceiling height of 1500feet for our site which is envied by other clubs, normally 500feet. This is due to the lack of adjoining conflicting uses such as buildings and residential properties.
Further we believe changing land managers would not deliver any operstional benefits to the NMF other than = possible longer term lease. In fact we believe that a change of land managers may put at risk our use of the site.
The current management process through council lesse/permit is proven and has contributed to s harmonious relationship which we wish to continue.
The NMF look forward to Council's endorsement of the option to retain the Trusteeship and ask that we be edvised of the reply to the DES request.
Wayne and Peter are available st any time to discuss our stated preference with you,
kind regards
