2.1      Airborne Noise Testing
An airborne noise transmission loss test was conducted across the intertenancy wall between
the gym, Davidson Hair and BCC Cinema Noosa - Foyer. This test was conducted by playing
pink noise through the common tenancy wall and measuring the reduction in noise to the
hairdresser and the cinema. The results determine the acoustic rating of the wall system and
so determine the potential noise impacts of weight drops, music and voices from the gym, and
any particular issues related to wall construction.
2.1.1         Methodology
The acoustic wall testing procedures were carried out in general accordance with the following
standards;

    • AS/NZS ISO 140.4:2006 Acoustics – Measurement of sound insulation in buildings and
         of building elements Part 4: Field measurements of airborne sound insulation between
         rooms (ISO 140-4:1998, MOD)
    • AS/NZS ISO 717.1:2013 Acoustics - Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of
         building elements Part 1: Airborne sound insulation.
    • AS1045 - 1988 Method of Measurement of Absorption Coefficients in a Reverberation
         Room
2.1.2         Equipment
