5.6 Intersection Analysis
The following sections summarise the results of the analysis of each of the study intersections. Detailed
output results can be provided on request.
5.6.1 Intersection 1: Eumundi-Noosa Road/Beckmans Road
The intersection of Eumundi-Noosa Road/Beckmans Road is currently a three-way roundabout with varying
circulating lane widths, under the authority of the Noosa Council. Beckmans Road forms the north-western
leg of the intersection, with Eumundi-Noosa Road forming both the south-western and eastern intersection
legs. The most recent aerial imagery of the intersection is shown alongside the analysed intersection form
on Figure 5-2. Results for the analysis are summarised in Table 5-5.

2014 Background 0.48 8 30 0.46 8 27

2028 Background 0.71 11 64 0.79 13 85
2028 with Development 0.85 13 80 0.95 26 205
The results indicate that the existing intersection layout has adequate capacity for the background scenario
at the 2028 design horizon. Under the With Development scenario at the 2028 design horizon the
intersection is close to the threshold where upgrades would start to be considered during the Thursday PM
peak hour, however the Saturday AM peak hour volumes exceed the DOS threshold of 0.85 for roundabouts.
An interpolation of this data calculated that the development traffic volumes would breach the DOS threshold
by the middle of year 2024, which is depicted in Figure 5-3.
