REPORT
1 Introduction
As Council will recall, in 2016 we undertook an extensive planning process to develop our current
Corporate Plan. A Corporate Plan is the Council's overarching planning document which guides
long-term decision-making. The process to develop our Corporate Plan included:
A series of Council workshops facilitated by futurist Steve Gould;
Input from the Executive Team and Managers;
Feedback from the community via Council’s community engagement platform, Your Say
Noosa;
Feedback from Council staff (including the specific wording for Council values); and
Development of a long-term vision – “Noosa Shire – Different by Nature”.
Following community consultation, the current Corporate Plan was adopted by Council on 19
January 2017. The Corporate Plan contains 5 key themes which identify both long-term goals
(20 years) plus short-term key focus areas (5 years). The 5 themes are:
1. The Noosa Environment
2. The Noosa Community
3. The Noosa Economy
4. Long term planning for Noosa Shire
5. Excellence as a Council
Council's Operational Plan (which is adopted each year as part of Council’s budget process)
uses these 5 themes to identify key projects that will advance the achievement of our Corporate
Plan goals. This ensures alignment between our long-term planning as set out in the Corporate
Plan and our short-term projects/resources as set out in our Operational Plan and Budget.
