Dear Alan,
Re: Assessment against the Driveways and Parking Code – 3 Grady Street, Kin Kin QLD 4571
1. Overview of Proposed Works
The proposed development includes construction of a single rural driveway crossover from Grady Street to
service the subject lot. Works include a gravel driveway crossover with a sealed entry, installation of
a 375mm reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) culvert with precast headwalls, stone pitched inlet and outlet
protection, and associated earthworks to achieve suitable grades and transitions.
Compliance with Driveways and Parking Code
2.1 Location and Access
The crossover is appropriately located on Grady Street with suitable sightlines and provides a single access
point to the site, minimising vehicular conflict. The design does not adversely impact existing infrastructure or
services. The proposal complies with the intent of the code.
2.2 Design Standards
The driveway crossover is designed generally in accordance with IPWEA Standard Drawing RS-056, including
culvert installation, headwalls, and erosion protection measures. The design meets the applicable standard
requirements.
2.3 Geometry and Grades
Grades within the driveway range between approximately 3% and 16%. Transitions are provided to ensure a
smooth interface with the existing road. Steeper grades occur within the site due to topographic constraints
but do not affect safety at the road interface.
2.4 Stormwater and Drainage
Stormwater is conveyed beneath the driveway via a 375mm RCP culvert, with discharge directed to the
existing swale. Stone pitching is provided to prevent scour and maintain stable drainage conditions. The
proposal maintains existing drainage paths and does not worsen downstream impacts.

2.5 Pavement Design The driveway includes a 150mm compacted Type 2.1 gravel base with a sealed entry section. The pavement design is suitable for low-volume residential traffic and typical rural conditions. 2.6 Impact on Road Reserve Works within the road reserve are limited to the minimum required to construct the crossover. Disturbed areas will be rehabilitated following construction, and existing fencing will be reinstated outside the driveway extent. Levels have been designed in such a way, as to minimise cut and fill, please refer to the drawings to compare existing vs nominated levels. 2.7 Safety and Functionality The proposed access provides safe entry and exit to the site. Vehicle movements can occur without reversing onto the road, and the design supports safe operation under normal residential use. 3. Conclusion The proposed driveway crossover achieves the Performance Outcomes of the Driveways and Parking Code. It provides safe, functional, and durable access to the site while maintaining existing drainage patterns and minimising impacts to the road reserve. The development is therefore considered to comply with the Driveways and Parking Code. If you have any further enquiries regarding this matter, please contact the undersigned.
