INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING REPORT 10 NOVEMBER 2015
Retail operations sales saw a slower than expected start to the year at $6,068 below the forecast
budget of $32,550. Sales suffered with less people walking through the door than expected.
Careful management of retail operations for the remainder of the year will aim to ensure that the
budgeted net return of $77K is achieved. Speedo products continue to prove very popular and
the NAC will continue to trial and review new retail opportunities throughout 2015/16 to maximise
the Centre’s financial performance.
Employee benefits finished the quarter $22k overspent. This came as a result of casual budget
phasing not reflecting the three pay periods in August. After allowing for the phasing issues,
employee benefits costs are tracking in line with expectations. Revised phasing has been
submitted to ensure more accurate YTD reporting from this point forward.
Water charges sit at $9k under budgeted expenditure but are expected to correct to budgeted
levels once current tariff reform matters are resolved. Plant and equipment maintenance also sits
at around $9k under budget but will draw closer to expected levels as spending occurs over
coming months and current budget phasing is adjusted.
2. CUSTOMERS
The NAC attendance figure of 41,572 for Quarter 1 is below that of previous years, mainly due to
the temporary closure of the 25m pool. This trend is not expected to continue as bookings and
attendance numbers for October have returned to usual figures.

The NAC continues to have limited capacity during most weekday afternoons due to the
increased popularity of water polo. While lanes remain open to the public, these are generally
limited to two lap lanes during the peak times of 3.30 – 5pm.
