Visual Assessment Statement: Car Wash, and Food and Drink Outlet 34 Elm St., Cooroy, QLD
42 Within the broader context of Cooroy, these elements form a localised consolidated focus
characterised by the light industry like service station buildings and the railway infrastructure.
Although discordant and lacking cohesion, this ‘service/infrastructure’ dominated character is
both coherent and well established. Its sense of place is less ‘main street’ and more ‘light
industrial’.
43 Away from Cooroy Station the character transitions to a limited commercial precinct that
extends to the east along Diamond Street and tto the north of the Diamond Street intersection
along Elm Street.
44 Beyond the town centre on both sides of the rail corridor the character transitions to a
suburban residential sense of place with local streets dominated by detached dwellings and
landscaped gardens.
