GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 15 APRIL 2019
Proposed Parking Locations
NR’s application proposes to manage parking of scooters in two ways, depending on whether the
area is high or low density. Specifically,
High Density areas – creation of designated parking zones for electric scooters as per
parking zones created by Go Noosa in Hastings Street. NR suggest one parking spot could
be allocated which could support the placement of more than 20 scooters. NR will provide
software functionality that will enable a rider to end their trip only within the parking zone
otherwise the rider will continue to be charged as if it were ride time.
Low density areas – scooters can be parked anywhere a rider would be able to legally park a
bicycle. Riders upon signing up to the app receive instructions to park the scooters upright
and safely, neatly and out of the way of pedestrians. To avoid parking problems riders must
take a photograph of where the scooter is parked and in the event the scooter is parked
incorrectly an NR team member is dispatched to rectify the issue.
How to use a Neon Ride Scooter
Put on helmet;
Check brakes and bell are working properly;
Rider downloads Neon Ride from the appstore;
Scan the QR code located on the handlebars;
Kick off and gently press the throttle down; and
End trip and park safely.
NR has incorporated various safety messages into the riding process with placards affixed to
each scooter and detailed safety instructions within the app.
Software
NR claims to have the ability to control scooter operations through application of their software.
This includes:
Ability to remotely lock, unlock, deploy, disable and locate scooters;
Displaying the details of every scooter on the network (including GPS location, battery level
and repair tickets);
Displaying a history of each scooter including its current state and any previous work done
on the scooter; and
Managing all support requests.
Maintenance
NR’s permit application also highlights the below mechanisms to manage maintenance issues:
Any scooter that has been flagged for having an issue is instantly disabled from the
network (i.e. is unable to be hired by a user) until it has been fixed and thoroughly tested;
and
Rigorous maintenance checks are undertaken on the scooters every time they are charged
at the warehouse.
In addition, NR will be aware when a scooter needs maintenance through the following channels:
a report is submitted via the app;
a report is submitted via email or via calling our hotline; or
a defect is discovered during the nightly check.
