GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 15 APRIL 2019

                                              =6=
Trial Opportunity: | Partner with Noosa as the location for a trial of an electric bus. An
ideal opportunity exists for an electric bus to operate around the
Noosa Heads tourist precinct which could be serviced from the Noosa
                         HeadsTranslink bus interchange.
Council is supportive of action A2.22 regarding Noosa to Maroochydore public transport
planning, however, Council believe that this planning should be extended to include
connections to the Sunshine Coast Hospital and the Sunshine Coast University at Sippy
    Downs.
Request: Amend action A2.22 as follows ‘Undertake planning to investigate
providing a high frequency public transport connection from Noosa to
Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast Hospital and the Sunshine Coast
                         University at Sippy Downs.’
    Wayfinding
There is little mentioned on marketing and promotion including digital means. Initial results
from the Christmas ‘Go Noosa’ trials indicate that wayfinding has been very successful in
seeing a shift to public transport during the peak holiday season. While this is consistent with
the Department of Transport and Main Road’s approach to transport system investment
detailed in Figure 4, there is no text linking these concepts. Council recommends that this is
more broadly included in the draft plan as well specifically addressed in Action A2.28.

Request: Include more discussion and actions relating to the benefit of
marketing and promotion to increase public transport use and amend
Action A2.28 to clarify that wayfinding could also include digital
                         marketing and communication.

    Tewantin Bypass
Council acknowledges the current and continuing discussions regarding the Tewantin
Bypass, however, there is no mention of the Department of Transport and Main Road’s
obligation under the Noosa Demaining Agreement 2000 within the draft plan.

Request: Include an action to plan, build and construct a bypass of Tewantin
connecting Cooroy-Noosa Road to Eumundi-Noosa Road.

    Cooroy Intersection Upgrades
Council acknowledges the current and continuing discussions regarding the Department of
Transport and Main Roads intersections at Myall and Elm Streets and Diamond and Elm
    Streets.
