$1663 Total
The application is for a driveway and minor filling behind the approved retaining walls and fencing for a
detached house. The applicant requests that a single fee of $525 be applied for the two components.
The earthworks are minor in scale and will be wholly contained within the site by masonry retaining
walls. As such there is limited assessment time required. The proposed fee is therefore considered
appropriate.

$1663 Total
The original application submitted was for a driveway (fee $525) for a rural property at 91 Ewarts Road,
Cooran. The confirmation notice was sent on 10/9/19 with the information request due on 24/9/19. As
part of some informal discussions with the certifier, it was suggested that there appeared to be a lot of
earthworks involved with the internal sections of the driveway and that it would be in their interest to
see if the amount triggered an operational works application.
The certifier advised that the volume trigger would be exceeded and that an operational works for
earthworks would be required and further questioned whether the driveway application could be
changed to include the earthworks at the driveway fee (as it is a single detached dwelling on a Rural
block). The earthworks triggers a second fee of $1138.
It is reasonable to accept one fee of $1138 due to the joint assessment.

Boreen Point Response – New
detached house with
predominantly 12 %
Roof Pitch
The applicant has requested that the application fee applicable to vary the roof pitch requirements for
their house at 7 Urunga Parade, Boreen Point be waived completely.
The applicant seeks that the waiver be granted, given the draft scheme only requires a 5 degree roof
pitch for Boreen Point and no submissions were received by Council opposing this change to the
planning scheme requirement.
While waiving the fee is not agreed to given the cost to Council of processing the application, it is
acknowledged that assessment of the application will be straightforward given the pending changes to
roof form with the new scheme. Therefore a base fee of $616 consistent with the Council’s ‘Generally
in Accordance’ fee is considered appropriate.
