REPORT
The purpose of this report is to seek endorsement of the Noosa District Sports Complex Master
(the Master Plan).
1                        Background

The Noosa Sport and Active Recreation Plan 2018 recommended, as a short term priority, the
development of a Master Plan over the Noosa District Sports Complex.

The Noosa District Sports Complex, located at 31 Butler St, Tewantin (Lot Plan 372MCH3843)
provides a multi-sport complex housing eight community sporting clubs with a combined
membership of approximately 3,000. For the purpose of this report and the Master Plan, the
Read Park cricket ground at 2 Poinciana Ave, Tewantin (lot plan 14SP295888) is also included in
the scope. Both sites are State owned Reserves for Recreation under the control of Council as
Trustee. A previous Master Plan for the Noosa District Sports Complex (including Read Park)
was completed by Sunshine Coast Council in 2009.

In 2019, Otium Planning Group was engaged by Council to develop a Master Plan for this site.

The scope of the Master Plan was to consider:
   The Noosa Sport and Active Recreation Plan 2018 Vision and Principles;
   The current configuration, capacity, usage and functionality of the sites;
   The general community (especially the surrounding residents) expectations and needs;
   The needs across various sports and recreation users, including current and future tenants;
   Emerging trends and issues;
   Catchment areas and population demographic demands (present and future);
   Car parking and traffic movement/management requirements;
 Relevant planning constraints and opportunities including environmental, flood immunity,
     land zonings, DA requirements etc.;

                                                                                                Page 137 of 172
