6 Community Consultation

In addition to the targeted stakeholder consultation detailed in section 2 of this report, general
community consultation on the Draft Cooroy Sports Complex Master Plan was conducted
through Council’s Your Say Noosa website from 27 November 2019 to 2 January 2020. Two
submissions were received through this period. One from a resident requesting a swimming pool
be included at the site as the Cooroy Pool (located at the Noosa District State High School) is
closed on public holidays and for 2 weeks of the year for maintenance. Council staff considered
this to be unfeasible due to lack of demand for an additional aquatic facility in Cooroy, lack of
space at the complex and cost implications. The second submission was from the Cooroy
Chamber of Commerce requesting minor amendments to the Draft Master Plan including the
consideration of provision of power at the RV site to provide Wi-Fi in the near future. This
amendment has been included in the final Plan.

8 Finance

Funding of $50,000 for the development of the draft master plans was allocated in the 2018/19
and 2019/20 budgets. This has been predominantly used to engage the external consultants.

The Master Plan proposes a range of infrastructure changes and improvements which have
financial implications: preliminary costings have estimated this at $8.8 million across ten years.
The financial responsibility for these improvements will be shared between various stakeholders
