Waste Management Plan

5.0     DETAILS OF COLLECTION

5.1     FREQUENCY

Waste collection frequencies for the operational phase of the development have been
included in Table 11. Once the development is operational, the collection frequency
should be reviewed to ensure that collection frequency is sufficient but not excessive.

5.2        WASTE SERVICING AREAS

The proposed waste storage areas will also serve as the waste servicing areas and
are shown on Figures 2 to 5. The storage/servicing areas has been designed to allow
for easy access by collection vehicle personnel and are located on level ground (refer
to traffic engineer report for vehicle swept paths).

The storage/servicing areas will be designed to meet the following requirements as per
Noosa Planning Scheme Policy 9 – Waste Management along with the Noosa
Planning Scheme Policy 11 – Waste Management Plans. The storage/servicing areas
will be:
   1. Sufficient access and clearance for the waste and recycling collection vehicles
        to service the bins, including adequate unobstructed overhead space for the
        swinging arm action of the waste collection vehicle;
   2. Bins serviced safely while minimising the impediment of traffic flow during
        servicing;
   3. Clear of speed control devices or similar provisions which inhibit direct access
        to the bins for servicing;
   4. Bin-carting route must allow bins to be easily manoeuvred and be devoid of
        steps or steep rises;
   5. Vehicles must be able to move in a forward direction at all times, or be able to
        enter and exit the development in a forward direction; or
   6. A turning bowl or a “T” or “Y” shaped manoeuvring area is provided, which
        allows the vehicle to turn with no more than a three-point turn; and
   7. The grade of access/egress ramps must not exceed 1:8.
