PLANNING & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 19 AUGUST 2014
Assessment of the of the Program
A review of the program has been undertaken to gain an appreciation of the coverage of the
program and its success. In the process of the review a survey of participants was conducted
and website data analysed.
Method Description
Survey 2014 A short survey was sent out to a representative sample of LS members in
April 2014
Website hits The number of hits on the LS website was determined Approx. 4,361 per
month Jan-May 2014
Approx. 4,206 per month Jul-Dec 2013
Website data Data collected from online modules
Quarterly website Quarterly & Bi-Annual website analytic performance reporting from website
performance reporting provider was examined.
Results from the 2014 Survey
A short survey was sent out to a sample of 1,346 LS participants across the region in April 2014.
Unfortunately the response to the survey was poor with only 179 participants participating out of
the possible 1,346 LS members. The breakdown of these responses per Council was:
Total responses – 179
Noosa Council – 33
Sunshine Coast Council – 108
Morten Bay 38
Due to the low response rate for Noosa residents it is not possible to draw significant conclusions
specifically for Noosa, results below therefore apply to all 179 respondents.
Key Survey Findings
The survey found that:
the main motivation for joining the program was to address sustainability with (26%) joining
due to events and activities;
the aspects of the program people liked the best were events, workshops, newsletters and
the information pages;
the activity centre (modules) were unpopular because of the time it took to complete them
and the content and level of complexity;
the majority of respondents identified that the benefits of the program had stayed the same or
increased slightly; and
in addition results showed that a slight reduction occurred in power usage, water usage,
waste produced and increased recycling however as no quantitative data is collected it is not
possible to measure actual reductions.
