RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Administration Officer Executive to the Planning &
Organisation Committee Meeting dated 19 August, 2014 and request the Chief Executive Officer
to write to the Department of Justice and Attorney-General requesting the appointment of Friday,
11 September 2015 as a Show Holiday for the Noosa Shire.


REPORT
Under the Holidays Act 1983, the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice is empowered to
appoint, upon request by the Chief Executive Officer of the local government for the district
concerned, a special holiday within a district. Holidays of this nature a usually appointed in
respect of an annual agricultural, horticultural or industrial show or other event which would be of
significance to a particular district. Requests for the appointment of a special holiday for 2015
must be submitted no later than 5 September 2014.

The Noosa Country Show has traditionally been held each year on the second Friday and
Saturday in September. For 2015, the Noosa Country Show is proposed for 11 – 12 September.
It is therefore proposed that an application be made to the Minister to appoint Friday,
11 September 2015 as the Show Holiday for Noosa Shire for 2015.
