PLANNING & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 19 AUGUST 2014
Like many Regional Organisations of Councils (ROCs), the Council of Mayors (SEQ) has had
mixed results over the years in terms of its effectiveness. Gold Coast City Council has recently
rejoined so that all SEQ Councils are once again members. We should maintain a watching brief
on how the Council of Mayors (SEQ) performs as an organisation.
It is proposed that Deputy Mayor Cr Abbot will generally attend meetings as the Mayor’s
representative.
Previous Council Consideration
At its meeting on 3 April 2014, the Council resolved to be a member of the Council of Mayors
(SEQ) until 30 June 2014 and to review its membership after that time.
Finance & Risk
Membership of the Council of Mayors is $40,000 annually. This amount can be accommodated
in the existing budget.
