MCU14/0109 QIC Cover Letter to support application
ART ce | This ongoing investment in Robina Town Centre and QIC’s surrounding land holdings has strengthened the positioning of Robina Town Centre as the heart of the greater Gold Coast community. Further improvements are currently underway at the southern end of the Town Centre with the development of the Robina Market Hall Redevelopment project, a $150 million fresh food and dining precinct which will introduce a broad variety of artisan and specialist fresh food retailers, integrated with experiential dine in offers. The Grand Central site in Toowoomba was acquired in two tranches, in June 1995 and December 1996, upon completion of the development of the centre. In June 1999, QIC completed a cinema extension, to introduce a five screen cinema, approximately 800 m? of specialities and 250 car parks. The next stage of expansion of Grand Central has recently been approved by the Toowoomba City Council. The project will transform the heart of the Toowoomba CBD through greater integration of Grand Central with the traditional retail heart of Toowoomba, by connecting the centre to the Garden Town site via a two level retail link. The redevelopment is proposed to deliver a new ground floor dining precinct, a public civic space, new discount department stores, new supermarkets, approximately 170 specialty stores, and additional car parking. In addition to its retail assets, QIC is also the owner of 8 office towers in the Brisbane Central Business District, with additional office towers located in Sydney and Melbourne. QIC is actively managing these properties, with a view to their improvement and, in some cases, ultimate redevelopment. | look forward to working with Council to progress this application. | would be happy to meet with you or Council officers to provide further details about QIC or this application. Our experienced team of consultants are also available to meet with Council officers at their convenience. | trust that the current proposal, along with QIC's initial investment in the site of $200m, demonstrates to Council that QIC is committed to the site and its ongoing, long term improvement and that Council will give favourable consideration to this application. Yours/sincerely WA Martin Dowl Investment General Manager 3 of 3
