Crossings
Raised priority crossings have been recommended along the off-road corridor alignment to maintain continuity and
priority of the route. However, it is acknowledged that there are very few priority crossings located within the Shire and

the current driver perception is generally that vehicles have right of way. While many of the intersection treatment
recommendations could be undertaken as part of road resurfacing or maintenance works, the installation of raised
priority crossings is likely best implemented as a consolidated program and combined with a community awareness

campaign concerning the facility treatment and associated pedestrian, cyclist and driver obligations. Should Council not
support the introduction of raised priority crossings, cycle friendly pedestrian refuge crossings (ideally 3m wide to
accommodate the length of a bicycle) would be the next best alternative. Information on the recommended intersection
treatments for Corridor 2 in addition to that presented in Table 36, is provided in Working Paper 3.
