17 The Esplanade, Sunshine Beach Report Borehole BH2 was also undertaken using a hand auger terminating at a depth of 3m below ground level (Note: ground level was reported at 27m AHD). Is this case the borehole was completed at the target depth. The subsurface profile consisted predominantly of fine to medium-grained sand, becoming pale grey with depth. The material was generally loose to medium dense and in a dry to moist condition at the time of the investigation (refer Appendix D). All three DCP tests show a similar pattern, the upper layer is made up of loose to medium dense sand, and as the depth increases, the sand becomes denser and stronger. DCP1, located near the of the property, recorded low blow counts per 100mm from the surface to a depth of 1.5m, indicating loose sand near the surface. From about 2m depth, the number of blows increased to approximately 13, showing that the material becomes denser with depth. Similarly, DCP2 and DCP3, positioned closer to the beach and dune area, showed the same behaviour loose sand at the surface gradually transitioning to dense sand below approximately 2m to 2.5m depth as shown in Appendix D. The geotechnical investigation indicates likely existence of indurated sand (i.e. coffee rock) beneath the site and adjacent dune area. However, the spatial extent and thickness of the coffee rock layer cannot be determined from the information available and will not be considered in the reassessment of the erosion prone area. This is likely to provide an additional level of conservativism in this assessment. 252662-MN-RP-CO-0001B | 10 November 2025 | Page 10 Document Set ID: 24631530 Version: 1, Version Date: 24/03/2026
