SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING REPORT 8 NOVEMBER 2022
All revenue streams performed strongly against budget, particularly learn to swim revenue which
was up over $50K with total revenue coming in higher than the pre-pandemic results in 2018/19
by approximately $114K.
Café lease revenue improved by $14K & will now recover to achieve budget with facility closures
unexpected. Admission fees were on the increase with a $51K improvement on the year, with a
small drop in squad revenue based off St Andrews appointing a new head coach which has
attracted & further depleted the NAC’s program. With our inability to match the salaries offered by
private schools (circa’ $100k) our focus will remain on being a community pool for all.
Revenue for both the group fitness and gym were above pre -pandemic levels by $15K and $10K
respectively, which was an excellent result highlighting a strong demand and interest for these
services by the community and members as things return to normal.
Controllable expenses were below budget by $79K mainly due to:
• Employee costs below budget by $55K due to the majority of staff being casual & not being
paid for the 14 days of closure during this financial year (2 x COVID closures & a 7-day
closure for the installation of a new switchboard).
• Materials and services costs below budget by $23K
The snapshot of historical performance below shows that the net operating result for NAC has
remained relatively consistent over recent years but have recovered to pre-covid levels. This is
particularly pleasing given the impacts of Covid-19 over the past two years, the opening of St
Andrews pool & major renovations.
