SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 6 JUNE 2017
In addition to the above mentioned projects that are completed, the focus on planning for the
2016/17 road reseal program has shifted to the delivery phase, with Reef Street Noosaville,
Eenie Creek Road, Sunshine Beach Road Noosa Heads and sections of Cooroy Noosa Road
Tewantin overlayed since January with other sections of arterial roads and hinterland roads to be
resurfaced by the end of June 2017.
3. Asset Management Programs
The main focus of this report is focused on construction type projects but there are a number of
annual and cyclical projects that are currently being delivered across the capital program and
these include:
CCTV stormwater condition inspection program;
Whole of Shire asset condition assessments;
The gravel re-sheeting program;
Stormwater structures & stormwater pipes renewal programs; and
The asset management system mobility project.
These projects are aligned to Council’s asset management focus and asset condition inspection
programs which then determine the future capital renewal programs.
4. Capital Works Project Control Group
Council, at the Ordinary Meeting on 17 November 2016 endorsed the establishment of the
Capital Works Project Control Group (CWPCG) nominating Crs Pardon & Glasgow as members.
To improve the effectiveness of the CWPCG it was agreed to form two sub Project Control
Groups comprising project officers (the Infrastructure Project Control Group and the Community
& Corporate Services Project Control Group) to inform the CWPCG. To alleviate the confusion in
names it is recommended that the Capital Works Project Control Group be renamed the Capital
Works Executive.
5. Summary
The delivery and completion of projects continues across the Capital Works Program. With more
resources to be recruited in coming weeks there will be a further increase in the delivery phase of
the projects. The program will see the majority of projects scheduled to be either completed or
well underway prior to the end of June 2017. Council staff have completed recruitment for more
design and project delivery resources which has seen an advancement in the delivery of designs
for the current and future Capital Works Programs.
