INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 1 MARCH 2016
Whilst the financial table depicts Employee Benefits finishing $46,946 ahead of projections, some
of this underspend has been absorbed by additional contractor expenses in areas where work
has been unable to be completed by employees (due to unavailability and injury). As such, the
‘real’ YTD employee benefits savings are $33,444. Due to budget phasing inconsistencies, the
level of savings did not become apparent until January’s financials were released. In fact as at 30
November there was less than $1,000 variance between Employee Benefits budget and actuals
and even at 31 December, actuals were only $9,500 under budget, and this was without allowing
for associated contractor expense overruns.
Combined Plant & Equipment and Building & Facilities maintenance sits at around $21,500 under
budget but will draw closer to budgeted levels as spending occurs over coming months following
our upcoming condition assessment and development and implementation of associated
maintenance schedules.
2. CUSTOMERS
The NAC’s attendance figure for the period ending January 2016 is 134,372, down 7% on last
year’s figure of 144,358. This difference is a mainly due to the temporary closure of the 25m pool
at the beginning of the year, and a reduction in the record numbers of people that came through
the door during last year’s summer holidays.

The NAC continues to have limited capacity during most weekday afternoons due to the
increased popularity of water polo and the demand for Squad/Learn to Swim lessons. While
lanes remain open to the public, these are generally limited to two lap lanes during the peak
times of 3.30 – 5pm.
