5 Recommendations of the Draft Noosa District Sports Complex Master Plan
Recommendations contained in the Draft Noosa District Sports Complex Master Plan relate to
increasing the usability and functionality of the site for both formal and informal physical activity,
while improving safe pedestrian/cycle access and connectivity. Major recommendations include:
Relocation of the internal north-south road to the west of the rugby league and touch fields,
requiring realignment of the playing fields (approximately 14m east toward the clubhouse).
This will remove a high risk pedestrian/vehicle conflict area within the complex.
Connection of the new internal road to an east-west road north of the rugby league fields and
clubhouse which will provide for a through road from the northern (McKinnon Drive) entrance
of the complex to the Butler St entrance, maximising car parking across the complex and
reducing vehicle congestion in peak times.
Installation of a cycle/pedestrian network through the complex that connects with existing off
road and on-road pedestrian/cycle infrastructure external of the complex.
Clubhouse upgrades to maximise female participation, community use and use of natural
resources (including water harvesting, solar panels etc.)
Playing field upgrades and new infrastructure to improve functionality, including installation of
lighting, scoreboards, improvements to irrigation and drainage.
