3.1.2. Weed Removal Technique
A range of techniques may be employed to achieve the required results, such as, but not limited to
foliar spray, cut & paste, hand pull (manual removal), scrape & paste, frilling and mechanical removal.
Care should always be taken when completing these tasks including following operational, licensing,
and legislative requirements. All weed removal techniques utilized are to be in line with the South East
Queensland Ecological Restoration Framework.
Due to the proximity to the dam, the rehabilitation area is to be treated with a ‘frog friendly’ herbicide
such as Weed Master Duo or Roundup Biactive. Roundup Biactive has been specifically formulated
for use in environmentally sensitive areas by using surfactants that ensure a high level of safety to
aquatic organisms. Weedmaster Duo also contains aquatically approved surfactants that are frog
friendly and has full aquatic registration.
Herbicide application must be conducted by an appropriately qualified person in accordance with the
Agricultural Chemicals and Distribution Control Act. Application rates must follow the registered
product labels or applied in accordance with an Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines
Authority (APVMA) permit where applicable.
3.1.3. Weed Control Procedure
Large patches of Lantana camara (Lantana) and Cinnamomum camphora (Camphor laurel) are
located throughout the whole rehabilitation area. Smaller scattered patches of Ochna serrulata
(Ochna), Senna pendula var. glabrata (Easter cassia), Schinus terebinthefolius (Broad-leaved
pepper tree), and Schefflera actinophylla (Umbrella tree) are also present throughout most of the
revegetation area.
A combination of foliar spray, cut & paste, and manual removal is recommended for the initial weed
control works on Site. To increase the viable planting space within the rehabilitation area, weed
