RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by The J & Bicentennial Community Centre Coordinator to the
Services & Organisation Committee meeting dated 8 September 2020, providing an update on
the activities of the Bicentennial Community Centre for the 2019/20 financial year.

REPORT
The purpose of this report is to advise Councillors of Bicentennial Community Centre’s (BCC)
activities for the financial year ending 30 June 2020.

The BCC comprises the Main Hall, Annexe and Demountable buildings. The BCC is permanently
occupied by two community groups, being Noosa Gymnastics Club (Main Hall) and Montessori
Noosa (Demountable and Annexe).

1. FINANCE

The objective of all services within the Community Facilities branch is to balance the demands of
access, equity and community service obligations with sound financial management and to
improve revenue through innovative and entrepreneurial approaches, while at the same time
seeking to minimise operational costs.

It is important to note that COVID-19 had a significant impact on the financial performance of all
of Council’s community facilities in 2019/20, mainly because of the mandated centre closures
and associated loss of revenue from late March onwards. The impacts of this will be further
explored throughout this report.

BCC interim financial performance as at 30 June 2020
