2.2. Anticipated Refuse Volumes
Given the intended use of the site as a transport depot for electric vehicles, historical refuse generation data
based on transport depots for internal combustion engines is not considered to provide accurate estimation
for refuse produced by this site. As such, the generation rates used for the calculation of refuse produced
have been applied based on a review of information provided for a comparable existing site operated by the
proposed site operators.
While internal areas may differ between the operator’s sites, the ratio of staff members required per bus
within the fleet remains consistent. As a result, the generation rate utilised is based on the total volume of
generation from a comparable site, divided by the number of buses in the fleet to provide a generation rate
‘per bus’. TTM note the generation rate applied relates to general waste and commingled recycling only and
excludes specialist waste streams such as fluids and tyres. Further details of the specialist waste streams is
provided in Sections 2.3 – 2.5.
A collection frequency of once per week is proposed for general waste and commingled recycling is based on
a storage capacity of 7 days between services. The proposed collection frequency aligns with Council’s
Minimum Service Levels.
