The estimated trip generation from the site is expected to generate up to 40 truck
movements per week, including refuse collection, deliveries and water carrying
vehicles. This equates to 8 trucks per day or 16 trips (8 arrivals and 8 departures)
spread throughout the daily hours of operations 7:00am until 6:00pm, Monday to
Friday. It is also estimated the site will generate 10 to 15 light vehicle movements
per day including staff and ancillary business uses.
Assessment of Existing Access :
The sight visibility has been reviewed in accordance with Clause 3.4 of Austroads
2009 Guide to Road Design — Part 4A: Intersections. Sight distance is measured along
the carriageway from the approaching vehicle to the conflict point.
The posted speed limit on this section of road is 60km/h. The safe intersection
sight distance (SISD) for an observation time of 3 seconds and reaction time of 2.0
seconds (Refer to Table 3.2 of Part 4) for 60km/h is 123m. The access intersection
meets this requirement to the west and achieves a sight distance of 130m. The site
distance to the east was measured to be 113m; however the additional 10m can be
achieved through the removal of vegetation within the road reserve as shown in red
in the photographs below. The vegetation is overgrown saplings only ranging in
trunk diameter of 50 to 150mm.
