Location Plan (Figure 2). A total of two (2) boreholes were advanced across the site to a
depth of 2.0metres below the existing ground level (refer Appendix A).
Based on the geotechnical investigation, it is noted that the soil profile encountered within the
site generally consisted of 700mm of moderately structured Silty Clay (Category 4-5)
overlying strongly structured Silty Clay (Category 6) to termination depth at 2.0m.
2.8 SOIL PERMEABILITY
In addition to the soil borehole logs, one (1) permeability test was undertaken within one of
the two boreholes and in accordance with the AS/NZS 1547:2000 to determine the actual
permeability of the site soils. The recorded KSAT value was 0.0213m/day which indicates
that the site soils are subject to very low permeability.
2.8.1 Groundwater & Water Bores
During the site investigations, no permanent water table or seepage was encountered within
the boreholes. However, groundwater table represents local groundwater accumulations that
typically fluctuate between seasons. Therefore groundwater separation distances based on the
local water table depths needs to be considered during the design of on-site sewage systems.
