Dust Monitoring
Unless specified otherwise, the method for undertaking dust monitoring on this site is to monitor dust deposition
rates using a dust deposition gauge. The method for this is set out in the ‘Australian/New Zealand Standard:
Methods for sampling and analysis of ambient air: Method 10.1: Determination of particulate matter – deposited
matter – gravimetric method (AS/NZS3580.10.1:2003). Dust deposition.
The criteria for compliance with dust deposition are as follows: When pre-construction (baseline) monitoring
has been undertaken at the site, the limit for dust deposition, which will be described as "Insoluble
solids" in the results, is 2g/m2/month (30day average) above the baseline levels. When there is no
baseline levels for dust deposition on the site, the limit for "Insoluble Solids" is 4g/m2/month (30 day
average) (120mg/ day). These values are based on nuisance levels, and 4g/m2/month is when dust
deposition is likely to occur on houses, furniture, or private property.
