Bitumen Surfacing

The Project Manager shall gain the following approvals prior to commencement:

▪    Verify that the subcontractors method and equipment has been approved by the Superintendent;

▪    Obtain from the subcontractor certificates verifying that aggregate and bitumen products comply with the
     specification

The Foreman shall perform the following pre-commencement checks:

▪    Ensure that surface preparation is in accordance with the specification;

▪    Ensure that road furniture is protected;

▪    Brief the subcontractor’s crew on the extent of the work;

Bitumen surfacing will be placed in accordance with the specification.

Tests will be taken in accordance with the specification.

Subcontract’s quality records will be collated for each scope of works, and submitted to the Superintendent for
approval.

Asphalt Pavements

The Project Manager shall gain the following approvals prior to commencement:

▪    Brief the subcontractor’s crew on the extent of the work.

Tack coating will be applied in accordance with the specification.

Asphalt will be laid and compacted in accordance with the specification.

Tests will be taken in accordance with the specification.

Subcontractor’s quality records will be collated for each scope of works.

Excavation, Installation & Backfill of Culverts

The Foreman shall perform the following checks before excavation and preparation of foundation commences:

▪    Confirm that the set out is adequate;

▪    Confirm that an excavation permit is in place;

▪    Confirm the location of existing services;

▪    Ensure that the equipment is appropriate for the required task;
