GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 25 AUGUST 2014
The Sunbus General Manager was unable to confirm if the 626 or 627 were at capacity during
the Easter 2014 Free Holiday Buses, however during both the Christmas 2013/14 and Easter
2014 Free Holiday Buses service, routes 626 and 627 were the two most popular routes in
Noosa. (Note: An average TransLink bus has a total carrying capacity of 78 people - 50 seated,
28 standing). TransLink confirmed that they were not advised of any passengers being left
behind on the 626 or 627 services over the Easter Free Holiday Buses which would indicate that
they were not at capacity.
Based on feedback from Sunbus and TransLink, the temporary shuttle assisted in reducing
waiting time for passengers but is not necessary because Routes 626 & 627 are sufficient at
meeting passenger demand.
2. Inclusion of Cross Boundary TransLink Routes
Passenger data has been obtained from TransLink for Noosa only journeys from 16 - 24
December 2013 for Routes 620, 622, 630 and 631. See Table 2 below.
Table 2: Noosa Journeys on Cross Boundary TransLink Routes -16- 24 December 2013
Route Total Passengers
Noosa Shire Only
620 Peregian Beach – Noosa Heads 4,726
622 Noosa Civic – Noosa Junction 862
630 Noosa Junction – Eumundi Rd, Rene St 277
631 Noosa Junction - Cooroy 1,682
Route 631 Noosa to Nambour via Cooroy
If TransLink is able to incorporate free travel on journeys within the Noosa Shire only for Route
631, it is recommended for inclusion in the Free Holiday Buses services for the following
reasons:
Provides greater frequency of free travel for Hinterland residents (residents catching the
Route 632 service from Cooran or Pomona in the morning need to connect to the Route
631 service in Cooroy. This created confusion and frustration).
Provides greater frequency of free travel for visitors to the township of Cooroy.
Services the most popular destinations - Noosa Junction, Noosa Heads, and Gympie Tce.
New bus stop at Tinbeerwah.
