PLANNING ASSESSMENT
Proposed change application – DA 132007.12.6
Noosaville Medical and Professional Centre

7.5 Operational Details

As previously mentioned, the proposed building extension is intended to provide a fit-for-purpose
radiation oncology bunker. This area will provide a speciality radiation treatment room (bunker), which
will treat only one (1) patient at any given time. The general layout of this area is shown in Figure 11.

The remaining tenancy space will provide for other treatment rooms and administrative functions for
the GenesisCare operations. The facility provides by appointment only services, with an average of
twenty-nine (29) patients per day and a maximum of thirteen (13) full time equivalent staff2.

GenesisCare (and predecessor) has supported radiation oncology on the Sunshine Coast and surrounds
for over 20 years; their Nambour facility was commissioned in 2001. GenesisCare is now the largest
provider of cancer care in Australia, the UK and Spain, and the leading provider of cardiovascular and
sleep treatment throughout Australia.

The GenesisCare offering at Noosaville Medical and Professional Centre will provide:

       ▪ A state-of-the art Varian TrueBeam with AlignRT to ensure full stereotactic capabilities, which
allow GenesisCare to treat the full spectrum of tumour body locations.
       ▪ A medical linear accelerator (linac), that will have cone beam computed tomography (CBCT),
triggered imaging, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), in addition to AlignRT leading to full
complement of treatment techniques including deep inspiration breath hold (DIBH), intensity
modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), and stereotactic
            ablative body radiotherapy (SABR).
