6.0 SLOPE STABILITY ASSESSMENT
6.1 Existing Conditions
NSC natural hazard overlay mapping indicates that the site may be susceptible to landslide (blue shading, as
shown in Text Figure 9).
Text Figure 9: Extract from NSC Landslide Susceptibility Mapping
It should be noted that the NSC map is a broad-scale indication of the potential landslide susceptibility and is
superseded by site specific investigation and analysis works. The site does not exhibit any indicators or
global, natural slope instability. No landslide back scarps or areas of naturally ‘hummocky’ ground were
observed. It is inferred that the landslide susceptibility rating is due to the steep slope of the flanks of the
ridge.
6.2 Stability Assessment
6.2.1 Qualitative Assessment
The risk assessment for this project has been carried out following AGS 2007 Practice Note Guidelines for
Landslide Risk Management. Relative levels of risk and their implications are given in Table 1 below and the
Qualitative Terminology for Use in Assessing Risk to Property is also attached in Appendix B.
