6     RECOMMENDATIONS

6.1     MANAGEMENT CONTROLS

It is recommended that operation of the compactor to be limited to the day time period only (7am – 6pm)
and not use kitchen exhaust and other mechanical plant adjacent to the loading docks between 10pm and
7am.

Furthermore, trolley collection must not occur after 10pm and prior to 7am.

Loading dock operation between 5am and 10pm has been considered, however, no idling of trucks should
occur within the sites at any time (including the refrigeration trucks) and such restrictions should be included
if not yet followed (e.g. signs installed at the entry and along the boundaries of the shopping centre loading
docks).

6.2     ACOUSTIC BARRIER

An acoustic barrier is recommended along the northern boundary of lots 21 and 19 adjacent to the
blockwork loading dock wall as shown in Figure 19. The height of the barrier must be a minimum of 1.8
metres above the loading dock ground level or top of the existing loading dock blockwork wall whichever
is higher, with a minimum surface density of 12 kg/m2. This assumes that the pad heights of the residential
buildings do not exceed that of the loading dock concrete pad level.
