REPORT

Following discussions between the Mayor, Councillors and relevant staff it is suggested that the
following approach be taken to undertake the review:

Step 1
Establish a Noosa Biosphere Reserve Working Group consisting of Mayor Playford and
Councillors Abbot, Pardon and Wellington with a brief to recommend to council the preferred
vision, objectives and management framework for advancing the purpose of the Noosa
Biosphere Reserve.

Step 2
Undertake community consultation with key stakeholders including, but not limited to, the current
Noosa Biosphere Limited Board Members and members of the Community Sector Boards.

Step 3
The Working Group consider feedback from the consultation process and provide a report and
recommendations to council on the preferred approach.

BUDGET & FINANCIAL ASPECTS

It is expected that costs should be limited to resources required for any facilitated discussions.

RECOMMENDATION

That Council agree to the process steps 1 to 3 outlined in the report to the Ordinary Meeting
dated 20 January 2014 to reshape the Noosa Biosphere Reserve management arrangements to
maximise the potential for community involvement in Noosa Biosphere Reserve projects,
activities and initiatives.
